Winter
in Iron County is Incomparable!
Winter in Iron County continues to entertain the
Outdoor Enthusiast, The ski hills open early.
Iron County boasts of great snow making, both
natural and artificial. The squeals of laughter
heard on the beaches in July now are heard on
the slopes at Ski Brule and Crystal Falls. Blend
this with serenity of cross-country skiing at
Young Recreation Complex and Lake Mary Plains,
and you're enjoying a winter wonderland. By January,
the lakes are dotted with fishing shanties and
people sitting on small sleds, in an effort to
catch bluegills, perch, crappies. Calls of "flag
up" gather a crowd of eager spectators to see
another trophy pike come through the hole. Iron
County is a snowmobiler's paradise.
Our
250 miles of carefully groomed trails provide unequaled
"sledding."
Each year brings more participants to Iron County
as the word gets out that "it doesn't get any better
than this" when it comes to snowmobiling. A time
when melting snow recharges our rivers and lakes
and give dormant seeds and plants a surge of energy.

Autumn
in Iron County is Spectacular!
Fall is beyond description. This is when the Old
Master Painter brings his brushes and palette to
the hills of Iron County and touches each leaf with
its own splash of color. The hardwoods in autumn
blend their yellow, reds and browns with the greens
of pine, spruce and balsam to create a breathtaking
panorama. This is the time to come to Iron County
with your camera and a lot of film. Fall beckons
to the small game hunter. Iron County has long been
known for providing excellent hunting for grouse
and woodcock. Small ponds and lakes attract many
kinds of waterfowl as the cold northwinds drive
them south.
Archers
come from near and far as the first season for deer
opens. The archer stands an excellent chance of taking
a trophy back and perhaps recognition by Pope and
Young.
Bear hunting is a very popular and growing sport here.
Regulations vary from year to year, so we urge you
to check early if you intend to pursue "Brer
Bear."
